To raise money for a great cause.

On Friday 7 June 2019, the HS Property Group team climbed Mount Snowdon in Wales to help raise money for two brilliant causes: a foodbank in Colchester and the homelessness charity, Shelter. The idea originated from our co-founder David Searle, who encouraged eleven members of our team to take part in this difficult challenge.

Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, standing at an altitude of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft.) above sea level and is one of the highest points in the British Isles. It’s often nicknamed the ‘busiest mountain in Britain’ due to crowds flocking to see its phenomenal views and its key location in Snowdonia’s National Park.

Thorough preparation for climbing Mount Snowdon is crucial, as bad weather can make normally straightforward routes more difficult – this was certainly the case for us.

The team set off and managed to complete the climb in four hours (2 hours up, 2 hours down), easily beating the average time of 6-7 hours. A well-deserved pub lunch followed, along with some celebratory drinks.

It was a great day for the team to bond, while raising money to help alleviate food poverty and homelessness. The funds that we raised will help these two charities to continue their work in providing expert advice and support to those in need.

Shelter is a charity very close to our heart, as we actively work across Greater Manchester to help alleviate homelessness. We currently manage 150 units of temporary accommodation, providing a crucial step in helping people move on from living on the streets and into their own home.

Our work with local councils and housing associations, creating high quality affordable housing, can prevent those on low incomes from being forced into poverty or homelessness – something that we’re very proud of.

Once again, we’re so proud and thankful to our team for their dedication and resilience when completing this tough challenge.
